About Me

My Photo
Hi my name is Tab and I'm married to Leigh, and we live in a little village in Leicestershire, UK with our very cuddly Shih Tzu called Teddy and between him and Leigh they make me laugh each day! I love to spend my time either doing a bit of crocheting or inking up a rubber stamp....truly love both and I love to dabbling in a bit of cake decorating too :o)

Meet My New BFF…….

Morning lovelies, hope that you are well today :o)

Sorry that I didn’t pop on yesterday to share my knitting…..yes you did read that right….knitting LOL…..I was in a bit of a cross mood yesterday, and well I could not inflict that on you all now could I, LOL…For those of you that have read my blog over the years, I am always a very jolly and cheerful kinda gal, so I think you would have called me grumpy knickers yesterday and told me to clear off LOL……

Anyway, my mood is superb today and I am back to my old Tabby self :o), so lets get on with today’s “Show and Tell” :o)

Now Like the title of the post says……Meet my New BFF……this wonderful book :o)

016

I have knitted since I was a wee nipper, but I have never been confident with it…..its all those dropped stitched and holes that they form that has totally got me scared to do it more often, plus I am a tight knitter too, so I end up with claw hands, which is not a good look LOL….so when I spied this book I thought why not, lets beat the phobia…..and I have to say it worked:o)  I think I knitted tight cos I was scared of dropping stitches, so now that I know how to pick the stitch back up, jobs a good un….no more claw hands!  I was also shocked to discover in the book that there are about 12 different ways to cast on and the same to cast off……who knew not me that’s for sure LOL…..I have been educated well on the old knitting front since I got my new BFF LOL….

Here is what I made over the weekend…..and I truly HEART him.  I got the pattern from HERE, you do have to pay a few pounds for it, but I think it was well worth it. Anything that I was stuck with I found in my new BFF too :o)

015

I used smaller pins, and yarn to the pattern so he is a wee bit smaller.  The yarn I did the rabbit in is Alpaca Yarn, so it is super duper soft, and the clothes are knitting in 100% Cotton Yarn.  All the yarn is Double Knit weight, and the body was knitted on 3mm pins and the clothes on 2.25mm pins.  He measures standing 9 inches to the top of his ear and sitting 6.5 inches to the top of his ear.

All his joints move, and they are hinged with a button, which you can just slightly see in the below pic.

012

He doesn’t stand un-aided as his feet are too round, but he is good at leaning :o)

I am so very very pleased with how he turned out and have decided he is just for my own personal softies collection…. he reminds me so much of my own bunny Ronnie Rabbit {who is currently residing in the conservatory as we speak due to the cold…..bless him, Teddy thinks its great and has spent the last 3 days curled up next to his cage watching his every move LOL} I brought him in as he is about 8 years old and so not a youngster anymore, I have a feeling he will not go back out now till the spring, as he seems to rather like all the attention he is getting…..I am so very sentimental about my animals, I can’t help it.

Anyway, hope that you all wrap up warm and keep safe and I shall see you all very soon :o)

Hugs Tab x

OMG!!! I want one of these! He is just tooooo cute, he's adorable and I can't believe how quickly you knitted him. I pick up my needles on the odd occasion, but I just might have been tempted to buy this book as I only know the basics and watch youtube for tutorials. Well done you, he is worth keeping.

Hi Tab, I cant imagine you being grumpy but we all have our off days dont we? LOL. Your bunny is beautiful, I may have a go at him. I am much more comfortable with knitting but I have managed to crochet a couple of granny squares so really chuffed with myself! We once looked after our daughters tortoise Elvis and kept him in the conservatory and our Shi Tzu Toby sneaked in and took him out of his vivarium and run into the garden with him, when we discovred him poor Elvis shell was covered in bites and holes! We had to rush him to the vets, luckily he survived but needless to say we have never been asked to look after Elvis again LOL!! Toby is now known as Turtle Muncher!

Your rabbit is absolutely gorgeous. You've inspired me that much that I've had to buy the pattern. You certainly look to me like you've mastered knitting now. Can't wait to see what else you produce.

He's gorgeous Tab - A and I once took a fortnight to knit a girl rabbit with ballet dress and cardigan - her head was weird shape but we thought we were soooo clever haha - unfortuntely she now has no arms, only one leg and no cardigan - Haggis just LOVES to play and chew her (oh dear)and she (and her 'bits' now live in his toy box (which is really his nest he never goes in as he sleeps on the bed!
